SHERIDAN — The Generals have signed their first guard of 2013.
After nabbing two big men with their first two signings, Sheridan College men’s basketball head coach Steve Smiley announced the addition of Kyi Thomas Thursday.
Thomas, a 6’4” 185 pound guard from Sacramento, Calif., averaged 14.2 points, 4.4 rebounds along with 2.1 assists and two steals per game for Sheldon High School. He led his team to a NorCal Championship and a state-runner up in California. Thomas made 54 3-pointers.
“Kyi is not only a talented basketball player, but he’s a really good kid that is focused and extremely mature for his age,” Smiley said. “Kyi is a big-time athlete, with great size for a shooting guard and he has the ability to score, rebound, and defend. His natural position is shooting guard, but he has the ability to guard positions 1-3 if needed.”
This past fall, Thomas redshirted for the Sacramento State University football program. During his senior season in high school, he caught five TDs, racking up 638 yards.
