SHERIDAN — The Lady Generals have locked up a standout scorer from Montana with their second official signing of 2013.
Shae Bruursema, a Reed Point/Rapelje High School senior, signed with Sheridan College this week.
The 5-foot 7-inch Bruursema’s statline speaks for itself: 19.5 points, 6.1 rebounds with 2.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game as a senior in 2012-13. She was All-State in both volleyball and basketball.
“Shae is another tremendous addition to our roster,” head coach Frank McCarthy said in a press release from the college. “Shae can shoot the lights out and brings a lot of toughness to the floor. Despite her size, she is a great rebounder and will really help our numbers on the boards. I am really looking forward to coaching Shae at the next level.”
Bruursema is the second official signing, joining Sierra Toms (Gillette) who signed earlier this week. Bruursema will look to fill in departing starters at the guard position Jasmine Davis and Kayla Kiriau.
Marking the second such signing in as many years, McCarthy said that Davis plans to sign with the University of Wyoming women’s basketball team next week. Davis, a native of New Zealand, would join former Lady General Fallon Lewis along with SHS grad Kayla Woodward in Laramie.
