WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — It’s been quite a summer for recreational softball in Sheridan, and it’s all culminating with the division tournaments this weekend.
Robbie Spencer, the Adult Activities Coordinator for the Sheridan Recreation District, is hoping to go out with a bang by creating the first Adult Softball Community Festival.
The festival, in it’s inaugural year, was created to invite fans from the community to enjoy food and drinks while watching the top adult softball teams from each division battle it out for the championship.
While fans are still encouraged to come out for the co-ed competitive division championship tonight, the festival officially kicks off tomorrow and runs through Sunday.
The event will feature food from Ole’s Pizza and Q’doba, as well as a beer garden sponsored by Big Horn Beverage. There will be music, a dunk tank and bounce house for kids, and, of course, lots of softball.
Tomorrow’s tournament will feature the top teams from the men’s division, and Sunday’s tournament will be the co-ed leisure division. Games will begin at 10 a.m. and will run all day until the championship at 8:30 p.m.
The festival activities start at noon and will run until 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday. The festival and tournaments will all take place at Thorne-Rider Stadium.
Saturday’s opening game will be between the eight-seed WyoVision/3H team and the 13-seed Ole’s Pizza team. First pitch is at 10 a.m.
For those looking to get a jumpstart on the weekend’s activities, the co-ed competitive tournament starts at 5:30 p.m. tonight and will go through the championship game at 9 p.m.
