Clearmont moving forward with water study application, capital plan

CLEARMONT — Clearmont Town Council has applied for a Wyoming Water Development Commission study to improve the taste and quality of the town’s water.

The council held a special meeting Monday to approve submittal of the application to the water commission.

Mayor Chris Schock said if Clearmont is accepted for a WWDC level two study, hydrologists will be sent to the town to evaluate water sources and determine an appropriate spot for an additional well, if needed. Schock said the town currently draws from some aging wells, which could affect the taste of the water.

The level two study application must be submitted by Aug. 15 and must be accompanied by a council resolution approving the application in order to be valid.

Schock said Sen. Dave Kinskey, R-Sheridan, has offered to help Clearmont every step of the way in obtaining and completing the study.

Also approved at the special meeting was an agreement with EnTech, Inc., to complete a capital improvement plan for the town of Clearmont. Dave Engels of EnTech will complete the plan.

The council will hold a work session Monday to discuss the process for creating the plan and to outline capital improvement priorities by using a list of projects proposed to be funded with Capital Facilities Tax and State Loan and Investment Board funds.

“We’re about ready to wrap up one of our projects, and we want to move on to the next project,” Schock said.
