SHERIDAN — Seven students from the Northern Wyoming Community College District took part in the six-day Association of College Unions International I-LEAD 2014 institute at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, Illinois, last week.
Six students from Gillette College and one from Sheridan College represented the NWCCD at the conference, which revolves around communication, intercultural proficiency and student learning.
SC Student Senate Vice President Seth Gray attended the event. This is the third consecutive year Sheridan College has sent a student to the institute, said SC Director of Housing and Campus Life Larissa Bonnet.
The Gillette College students included Student Senate president Cody Jolovich, Student Senate Vice President Kyle Dietsche, Senate Secretary Fabian Munoz-Student, Student Senate Treasurer Ali Piaia, Student Senate liaison Amanda Hutchinson and journalism student Jennifer Kellert.
This is the first time Gillette College students have taken part in I-LEAD.
“We are very fortunate to have been able to send our executive board members of Student Senate to I-LEAD this year,” said Susan Serge, manager of counseling and ADA Services at Gillette College. “I truly believe that the leadership skills our students are developing and refining will be tremendously impactful for our work this year and years to follow at Gillette College.”
