SHERIDAN — Sierra Needles finished eighth in the long jump for her age group at the Hershey’s Track and Field Games.
The Sheridan Junior High School athlete competed against 12 other girls between the ages of 13-14 at the event on Saturday in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
She landed her longest jump — 7 feet, 7.75 inches, on her fourth and final attempt to bump her into eighth place.
Kentucky’s Juliet McGregor had the top score of the day, jumping 8 feet, 8 inches on two of her four attempts. Marzette Penton of Washington holds the meet record of 9 feet, 3.5 inches, which she recorded in 1991.
