SHERIDAN — Coach Frank McCarthy has filled another void in his Lady Generals roster for the 2014-15 season.
Sam Moodie, a 6-foot-1 post player from Australia, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball at Sheridan College in the fall.
Moodie pairs her post-up ability with her perimeter skills to stretch the defense and uses her athleticism to run the floor, which McCarthy says is just what the team was looking for.
As a starter for the Junior Tall Ferns Youth League U23 team, she averaged 9.1 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 43 percent from the field.
She averaged 11.6 points and 5 rebounds while competing for the New Zealand U20 squad at the Australian Nationals in April.
Moodie will join a recruiting class that includes Sarah Rawlings from Tongue River High School, Jess Underberg from Douglas, Shayne Carter from Cheyenne East, Shayna Kretschman from Arvada-Clearmont, Peyton Hinn from Chadron, Nebraska and Megan Kramer from Colorado.
The Lady Generals finished 19-13 last season.
