SHERIDAN — The Powder Horn will play host to the inaugural Swinging for Smiles golf tournament next week.
The Swinging for Smiles Golf Tournament will benefit Give Kids the World, a program that provides memorable, magical and cost-free experiences to children with life-threatening illnesses.
The tournament kicks off with a practice round on Thursday, Aug. 7, before tournament play begins on Friday.
The two-person teams will make up five flights: men, women, senior men, senior women and couples. The teams will compete in a best ball format on Friday and a scramble on Saturday.
The two-day tournament will culminate in the always-popular derby on Saturday, where the flight winners will duke it out over five holes to determine a champion.
The three-day event will also feature a banquet on Friday evening. The banquet will include music, along with both a silent and live auction, all supporting Give Kids the World. A four-day Hawaiian vacation, a week of golf and shopping in Palm Springs, and a ski-in week in Big Sky are just a few of the items included in the auction.
An awards ceremony will round out the three days on Saturday evening.
Anyone interested in participating in the Swinging for Smiles Golf Tournament should contact the Powder Horn at 672-5323. The 72-team limit is on a first come, first served registration basis.
