SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College volleyball team is taking registrations for next week’s youth volleyball camps.
The Lady Generals will host kids in grades 2-12 in three different camps next week from Aug. 4-6.
The first camp, open to both boys and girls in grades 2-6, is designed for young volleyball players who want to learn and develop the fundamental skills of the sport. The camp will go from 9-10:30 a.m. and costs $60 per athlete.
The second camp runs from 2-4:30 p.m. and is open to seventh-, eighth-, and ninth-graders. Campers will learn offensive and defensive strategies as well as the basics of position specific development. The camp costs $80 per athlete.
The final camp, for sophomores, juniors and seniors, is designed for the competitive volleyball athlete that is looking to make an impact at the high school level and is interested in the potential of eventually moving on to play at the collegiate level.
The camp is broken into two sessions. The first part, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. each day, is structured to teach advanced skill and position specific fundamentals, while providing the athlete with an opportunity to learn the training principles from a collegiate coaching staff.
In the second session, which runs from 4:40-6:30 p.m., campers will learn the breakdown of team defensive schemes and strategies while playing in various competitions and situational team drills. The cost of the camp is $90 per athlete.
