WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — Two nonprofits in Sheridan are looking for new leadership after their directors have announced intentions to accept jobs elsewhere.
Downtown Sheridan Association Executive Director Stacie Coe announced her resignation earlier this month and will wrap up her time with the organization Thursday.
DSA board President Traci Ruskowsky said the board has an exceptional local candidate and hope to have a new director named by next week.
“Stacie was a tremendous asset to our organization and we hope that whoever we choose to step in can exceed our expectations,” Ruskowsky said.
She added that DSA has a great board that has stepped in to help when needed and the support staff in the office are ready to take on additional projects.
“The DSA director job is challenging,” Ruskowsky said. “But there are so many great things going on right now, it’s hard not to be excited.”
Coe plans to take a position with Eliason Financial Services.
The Food Group Director Jess Riley also recently announced that she has accepted a position elsewhere and will be leaving the nonprofit.
The organization’s missions is to alleviate childhood hunger in Sheridan County and volunteers are working to do that by providing food to children on the weekends.
The Food Group grew significantly in the last few years and Riley said she expects those numbers to continue to rise.
She said two years ago the nonprofit was feeding about 150 students per week. The group ended May 2014 feeding 315 students each week ranging from preschool to high school.
“We believe strongly that no child in our county should go hungry and we will continue to do everything we can to make sure that is the case,” Riley said. “We have an incredible group of volunteers and donors that continue to make this a communitywide effort. Last year we had over 300 people give financially to this cause and over 150 volunteers.”
Riley said the group recently started advertising for a new, part-time director. The director position is the only paid staff within The Food Group.
