SHERIDAN — Frank McCarthy’s Lady Generals received more national recognition for their work in the classroom last week.
For the 19th year, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association announced their Academic Top 25 Team Honor Rolls for the 2013-14 season, a list that ranks Sheridan College third amongst junior and community colleges.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women’s basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined grade point average inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season.
The SC women’s basketball team finished with a team GPA of 3.497 to go along with their 19-win season, including a remarkable 14-3 record at home.
Snow College topped the list for the second season in a row, finishing with a 3.584 GPA this year.
This marks the fifth consecutive season that the Lady Generals have made the list, including a first-place ranking after the 2009-10 season. They finished tied for 12th last season with a 3.094 GPA.
Sheridan College’s Kaila Willis and Morgan Wille received NJCAA Awards for Superior Academic Achievement earlier this month.
