Morton takes gold at tennis tourney

SHERIDAN — Big Horn sixth-grader Robert Morton won gold in tennis at the Big Sky State Games in Billings over the weekend.

The Big Sky State Games is an annual multi-sport event, modeled after the Olympic Games, and is open to competitors from Montana, Idaho, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming.

Morton, who also won the consolation bracket in boys’ 14 singles, won both of his matches in boys’ 12 singles to take home first place.

In a round-robin style bracket, Morton defeated Parker Kraske 6-4; 6-2 and defeated Jayden Ostler 6-2; 6-0.
