PH tourney raises money for SHS

Tip of the golf visor!

The Powder Horn hosted the annual Sheridan High School Boosters golf tournament Sunday. More than 30 teams teed it up for the blue-and-gold — the field rich in alumni, coaches, current students, friends and many more.

The hospitality of the event was led by SHS alum, ‘Scotty’ Scott, Class of 1952, and one of 77 high school All-Americans that year. Scott led the Broncs to the state football championship with a 7-1 record. In the big victory over Casper High (now Natrona), Scotty rushed for 300 yards on 20 carries and scored 42 points. His 157-points scored total during the 1952 season is still a state record.

In 2008, Scotty had his jersey number — 42 — retired at Homer Scott Field.

“I bleed blue-and-gold,” he says.

You can own your own town. One more Wyoming town is for sale — Aladdin, Wyoming. It’s in Crook County on Highway 24 near Belle Fouche, South Dakota, and Devil’s Tower. According to a story in the Wyoming Business Report, the owners, Rick and Judy Brengle, are willing to part with its popular mercantile store, the post office, land and other amenities for $1.5 million. Its mercantile store is one of only five 19th century mercs left in the state. Aladdin’s population is 15.

Last year, a Vietnamese entrepreneur bought Buford, population two, according to its highway sign, for $900,000. He changed the name to PhilDeli. It’s in Albany County and is located on Highway 80. The store in PhilDeli sells imported Vietnamese coffee.

Press reader Peggy Forister drops a note about the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Bed Races, always a popular event during Rodeo Week. The first bed race, she says, was 28 years ago and A-1 Electric won the race. The reason she remembers so well, says Peggy, it was the date of the birth of her first granddaughter, Darby Forister, July 11, 1986. Parents: Rob Forister, Cary Marosok Forister.

Glad to read the details.
