SHERIDAN — City officials expect the new crosswalk on Brundage Lane near the entrance to South Park to be completed within the next week or so.
Engineering project manager for the city, Tom O’Leary, said Wednesday that the crosswalk was installed as a safety measure for those utilizing the city’s pathway system.
O’Leary said the city got permission from the Wyoming Department of Transportation to install the crosswalk, which will be similar to those near the YMCA and the county courthouse.
The crosswalk will include some landscaping and a slight zigzag that will force pedestrians to look at oncoming traffic as they prepare to cross the road.
The bid for the crosswalk project was awarded to SSR Construction for $152,828. The city allocated both Optional One-Cent Sales Tax revenues and Public Benefit revenues to cover the cost of the project.
