Get your boots on, it’s rodeo time

SHERIDAN — Time to get your boots out — the Sheridan High School rodeo team will host their only home competition of the season Sunday and Monday at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.

According to rodeo team member Whitney Simmons, one of the best things about hosting a rodeo is the advantage of having support from friends and family who are able to come watch.

“It always makes the rodeo better when your supporters are there to watch you,” Simmons said. “The other best thing is you get to help run the events.”

The Sheridan High School rodeo team has several top competitors who are sitting high in the overall standings.

Jeffery Zdziarski is sitting second for all-around, first in bareback riding and second in saddle bronc riding.

Sam Haskett is sitting fifth in bull riding.

Linzee Adamson of Arvada is sitting fifth in barrel racing and Ross Brandt of Sheridan is sitting third in tie-down roping.

“It’s always better to compete in your own arena,” rodeo athlete Shyanna Cahoy said. “You know the pattern better and you know what type of ground you will be running on.”

For fans who can’t make the competition Sunday or Monday, the SHS rodeo team will also be competing in Buffalo on Saturday.
