SHERIDAN — The Jets earned their first win of the season Saturday, defeating the Billings Angels 5-4 at Thorne-Rider Park Stadium.
Jeff Shanor and Andrew Ratty both had two RBIs for the Jets. Davis Alden and Shanor both had runs for the Jets.
“We got a good win today against Billings,” Jets coach Ryan Murner said. “We pitched well, played solid defense and got a couple of timely hits. We missed a few opportunities that could have made it easier on ourselves but it was a good win to build on.”
In their second game against the Casper Drillers, the Jets lost 13-3.
Casper came out right away scoring four runs in the first inning. The Jets were not able to get any runs until the fifth inning, which was too late to catch Casper.
“Casper was a tough opponent that hit the ball well and capitalized on some of our early mistakes in the field. We fell into a hole and could not put enough together at the plate to keep it close,” Murner said. “We need to continue to work hard at practice and put our practice into play. We have another tough opponent next week at home with the Billings Cardinals coming to town.”
The Jets play on May 24 at 1 and 3 p.m. at Thorne-Rider Park Stadium.
