SHERIDAN — Robbi Ryan put in a solid performance for fans during senior night Friday, scoring all three goals for the Sheridan Lady Broncs.
The Sheridan High School girls soccer team hosted their last home game against their rival Gillette, earning a 3-1 victory.
The Lady Broncs dominated the first half keeping the ball mostly in the midfield and challenging the Lady Camels. With only four minutes left to go in the first half, the Lady Camels scored to tie the game. Lady Camels’ Sam Phillips was able to get past the Lady Broncs defenders sending the ball high above Sarah LeTempt’s hands, barely missing the top bar on the goal post, but finding the back of the net.
The Lady Broncs went into halftime tied 1-1.
“At halftime I told the team that we had to come out and play like we did the first half,” Lady Broncs head coach Mallery Marshall said. “They really dominated the first half and the score was not a reflection of how they were playing.”
With about 20 minutes left in the game, Emily Julian kicked the ball to score but the Lady Camels keeper blocked the shot. Ryan rushed in with two Lady Camels at her heels and was able to kick it toward the right end of the net. Lady Camels’ Sam Phillips and Kaitlyn Foster rushed after the ball, but were not able to make the save.
The Lady Broncs took the lead again, 2-1.
Ryan gave the Lady Broncs cushion to win the game with a goal in the last two minutes left of play bringing the Lady Broncs 3-1.
“The team maintained their composure and came out and played hard,” Marshall said.
The Lady Broncs are ranked No. 2 going into regionals and will play Friday against Cheyenne East at 3:30 p.m. in Gillette.
