Legion to host Poppy Days drive Fri., Sat.

SHERIDAN — The American Legion Auxiliary #7 will host a Poppy Days drive Friday and Saturday.

Buddy Poppies are artificial flowers which have symbolized the blood shed by service members since the VFW registered the name with the U.S. Patent Office in 1924.The poppy flowers are assembled by disabled, needy or aging veterans at Veterans Affairs rehabilitation centers and the majority of the proceeds are retained locally for veteran services and welfare.

The distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to noon daily, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center on Friday and at Walmart and Warehouse Market Saturday.
