Cloud Peak recognized for local contributions

SHERIDAN — Cloud Peak Energy, which operates Spring Creek Coal Mine, was recently honored at the American Technical Education Association’s 51st annual conference in St. Paul, Minn.

The company was awarded the Silver Star of Excellence award for its contributions to the technical programs at Sheridan College and Gillette College of the Northern Wyoming Community College District.

Cloud Peak received the award for providing internships, student co-ops, scholarships, advisory board memberships and jobs for graduates throughout the nation.

“Cloud Peak Energy’s support to the college district has been invaluable,” said Jed Jensen, dean of career and technical education at the NWCCD.

In addition to the award, the company will be inducted into the National Technical Honor Society Educator-Industry Hall of Fame.
