GILLETTE — Coming off of a tough weekend, the Sheridan Lady Broncs soccer team came back from a loss and beat their rival team, the Gillette Lady Camels, in a hard-earned 4-0 shutout.
It took Emily Julian a mere 25 minutes to notch her first goal in a Bronc uniform. Throughout the game, the Lady Broncs kept control of the field. They pushed the ball forward on offense to create open shots, and through most of the game kept the ball up field.
“Our strategy was to come out strong with an offense pressure right away,” Head Coach Mallery Marshall said. “They definitely capitalized on the pressure.”
Jamy Shassetz has been working in a new position the last two games. The Broncs needed someone to step up in defense, and she did exactly that, Marshall said.
“Shassetz had an unbelievable spark, so we put her in a position she has never played,” Marshall said. “Last week she played there, as well as today, and she was a difference maker for us. We have been really impressed with her growth.”
With Jennae Fieldgrove and Robbi Ryan each kicking in a goal to the back of the net in addition to Julian’s two scores, the Lady Broncs were able to pull off a win, ending the game at four-and-oh.
“They couldn’t have prepared any better than they did last week; they worked extremely hard. This game gave them the benefits of working hard throughout the week of practice,” Marshall said.
The win was a conference win for the Lady Broncs.
“This win is huge for our girls,” Marshall said. “It will give the girls momentum going into playing Central and East next week.”
The Lady Broncs will be on their home field at 6 p.m. Friday against Cheyenne East and at noon on Saturday against Cheyenne Central.
