SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School Lady Broncs soccer team shut out Cheyenne South on their home field Friday night with a final score of 6-0. The game served as a weekend opener for the girls’ game against Laramie this morning.
Coach Mallery Marshall said she was expecting Friday’s win, but that the game time was a good opportunity to tweak defensive strategies that had been emphasized in this week’s practices after a tough loss to Kelly Walsh Tuesday.
“We came out of that tonight,” Marshall said. “Our defense was really strong and we did what we needed to do.”
Marshall said today’s game is her team’s focus of the weekend.
“Laramie was the best team in the state last year,” she said, indicating she anticipates the team has returned strong and hungry to win.
“We’ll be relying on our defense,” she said.
Top scorers in the Friday game were Drew Dafoe and Jennae Fieldgrove with two goals each. Marissa Johansson and Robbi Ryan also kicked in a point each.
