SHERIDAN — The Bighorn National Forest Plein Air Celebration of Wildflowers will be held at Spear-O-Wigwam Mountain campus in June and local artists are now invited to register for participation.
The event is a collaboration between Sheridan Artists Guild, the U.S. Forest Service and Sheridan College which will include workshops in pastel, watercolor, oil painting and drawing mediums with renowned Wyoming artist Mike Beeman and Sheridan artist Linda Hartman.
“Plein air” is a French term for artists who paint outdoors. Participants in the workshop will learn to quickly capture the essence of light and mood in ever-changing environmental conditions under the tutelage of either instructor, including both group and individual instruction.
Participating artists will then show and sell their creations at the Sagebrush Community Art Center.
The workshops will be held June 22-27 and the public sale will be held June 28 at 5 p.m.
The course may be taken for college credit through Sheridan College. Lodging and meals are offered thru Spear-O-Wigwam but camping or commuting are also options.
