WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Ice figure skating team recently completed their season with two competitions.
Eight skaters competed at the Rapid City Gold Rush, a United States Figure Skating sanctioned event in February. The Sheridan team competed against nine other teams from around the region with a total of 59 skaters. While the event does not recognize a team award, the Sheridan skaters placed in several individual events. See results from that competition below.
The team won the overall team award at the 7th Annual Gillette Ice Breaker this past Saturday, an International Skating Institute event. Skaters from Gillette and Rapid City also competed. All nine Sheridan skaters placed in several events.
The team is coached by Emily Emond and Becky Rosty. Emond said the weather this season has made it difficult to skate consistently at Sheridan’s outdoor rink, but the team put forth great effort and was very deserving of their first place finish at the Gillette Ice Breaker.
