SHERIDAN — Shayla Christensen signed her letter of intent to Minot State University for throwing. She will throw shot, weight, discus and hammer.
“Shayla is a very hard working athlete,” Sheridan High School track coach Art Baures said. “She means a lot to this program and is a role model to many athletes. She is one that leads the team and accomplishes goals.
“This is the type of student that will do great at collegiate level,” Baures added.
Christensen will start her studies in athletic training this August.
She has set the record for the high school with a distance of 38.7 feet in the shot put. She also earned All-State honors for shot put in 2013 and placed fourth at the indoor state championship.
“They have a great training facility and the coaches are very nice,” Christensen said of Minot State University. “ I met the team and they are great.”
