LARAMIE — Wyoming Cowboy football fans can look forward to three home games in the first four weeks of the 2014 college football season.
The schedule announcement came on Thursday in connection with the release of the Mountain West Conference. Game times and television coverage will be announced at future dates.
The Mountain West’s national television partners, CBS Sports Network and ESPN, will now begin the process of selecting games for television. As part of that process, some games currently scheduled for Saturdays may be shifted to Thursdays or Fridays.
Regional television partners ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders will also continue to be involved in coverage of Wyoming and MW football games.
The Cowboys will kick off the season on Aug. 30 with a game against Montana in War Memorial Stadium.
This year’s Mountain West Conference Championship Game is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 at the home stadium of the divisional champion with the highest national ranking.
For the second season, the Mountain West football membership will include: Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming in the Mountain Division and Fresno State, Hawai‘i, Nevada, San Diego State, San Jose State and UNLV in the West Division.
Each of the 12 Mountain West football teams conference schedules feature eight conference games, with five of those games coming against the teams in each school’s division and the other three games being played against teams from the Mountain West’s other division.
As a member of the “Mountain Division”, Wyoming will play Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, New Mexico and Utah State every season, and will play three games versus teams from the “West Division”. Wyoming’s three “West Division” foes for the 2014 season will be Fresno State, Hawai’i and San Jose State.
