SHERIDAN — Three Sheridan track athletes placed in the top 10 of their respective preliminary rounds at the Simplot Games in Pocatello, Idaho, on Thursday and Friday.
Shayla Christensen led her teammates with a first place finish in the prelims for the girls shot put competition. Taylor Ballek took fourth in pole vault and Matt Scarlett took ninth place in the 1,600-meter preliminary race.
Other competitors for the boys include Seth Kovar (20th) and Miciah Huff (48th) in the 60-meter hurdles. Taylor Bruso took 37th in the 3,200-meter prelim and the Bronc Track Club “A” team took 36th in the 4×200-meter relay.
For the girls, Zoe Sherman took 46th in the 800-meter race and Ashley Fox took 40th in the 400-meter run. Peyton Bomar (42nd) and Addison Stedille (56th) competed in the 60-meter hurdles, while Gabby Edeen (42nd) ran in the 200-meter prelims and Xiomara Robinson took 106th in the 1,600-meter race. The Lady Broncs “A” team took 19th in the 4×200 relay and the “B” team took 36th in that race.
Competition continues in Idaho today.
