Orum inks with Black Hills

SHERIDAN — The tradition of linemen moving on from the Kevin Rizer-Don Julian Bronc offense is becoming a strong one.

Justin Orum signed his National Letter of Intent to Black Hills State University Wednesday, thanking his coaches for helping him get there.

“It’s all about technique,” he said. “Every day we do technique stuff and it’s really what helps people get better and be the best they can be, just grinding on technique every day.”

Along with his coaches, Julian and Rizer, Orum’s family, Dana Orum, Jason and Amber Clearwater, and Jackson Clearwater were there to help him sign on Wednesday.

Listed at 6-foot-5, 300-plus during his senior season, Orum said the coaches at Black Hills liked him for his size, but also for his vertical push on the line.

Orum added that he always wanted to play college football but admitted that things didn’t really click until this season.

“It’s kind of always been in the back of my mind,” he explained. “It was in the realm of possibility, but I guess I didn’t expect it.”

Playing in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, the Yellowjackets were 3-6 in 2013.
