SHERIDAN — Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns will host a dedication ceremony Thursday at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the dedication of Hilary Herbert’s house at 1233 Woodland Park Drive.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Habitat for Humanity and our Sheridan community in the construction of our new home. Hilary now has the space she needs for all of her therapies and equipment,” Hilary’s mother, Jolene, said in a press release.
Five years ago, 25-year-old Sheridan resident Hilary Herbert was in a life changing car accident that left her a quadriplegic. Until moving into their new Habitat home in the Woodland Park Subdivision, her parents provided her care in their single-wide mobile home.
Now, because of the dedication of a group of Sheridan citizens and HFHEB, the Herbert’s have enough space to live as a family and for Hilary to receive her therapies on a daily basis.
“For the first time since this tragedy happened, we have enough room to gather around the dinner table as a family.
There really are no adequate words to express our deepest thanks and gratitude to Habitat, the community, and the generous business owners in Sheridan,” the Herberts said.
Contributing partners include HFHEB, the former Sheridan Housing Action Committee, Sandy Baird, Bank of the West, Rotary, the Rotary Foundation, Sheridan Rotaract, Big Horn Builders Association and generous individual contributions from the Sheridan community and beyond.
“This project is a great demonstration of the power of the Sheridan community. A group of concerned Sheridan citizens have been the driving momentum behind this project,” HFHEB Executive Director Matt Davis said.
Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns is a nonprofit that works with families to provide the opportunity for them to purchase their own simple, decent, affordable home with a no-interest loan.
