4-0 dual start for Sheridan wrestlers in 4A East action

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Broncs swept their second double dual in a row Saturday, taking down Laramie then Cheyenne South. Both duals started in the middle weight classes and with two Sheridan losses, but the Broncs beat Laramie 57-18, and then South 48-23.

Senior Cody Delk, after drawing two open classes against East and Central and not getting to wrestle Friday on his senior night, earned two pins on Saturday. Tory Music and senior Tim Cowan were each 4-0 on the weekend as well. Senior Dane Chambers went 3-1, with his only loss in a tough matchup with East’s Brett Schaeffer on Friday night.

“It was a total team effort to come out and get the four wins we did,” Shatto said after the South dual.

“These are seasoned teams that have some great individuals in their lineup, and we came out on top this weekend. And now everybody goes back to work and we can keep preparing for state.”

Sheridan takes a break from conference action, heading to the one-class Wyoming state competition at Ron Thon next weekend. “It’s going to be interesting, they’re going to a new seeding criteria this year so we’ll see how our guys fall,” Shatto explained, “but regardless it’s another weekend of wrestling and another weekend to get better.”

Sheridan will have their final conference dual in Gillette the following weekend before returning home to host the 4A East Regional tournament on Feb. 21-22.
