Sheridan County hoops rundown: Jan. 11

SHERIDAN — The Lady Broncs (9-1) pushed their win-streak to six games, completing an undefeated road trip with a 62-44 win over Evanston Saturday in Riverton.

Meanwhile, Sheridan bounced back from a double-digit loss to Kelly Walsh Friday with a 56-44 win over defending 4A state champs Evanston Saturday afternoon to close the East-West Classic with a 2-1 mark, improving to 8-2 on the year.

The Broncs host Billings Skyview Friday night at 7:30 p.m., while the Lady Broncs play in Billings. Both beat Skyview earlier this year.

Lady Rams 2-0 in conference

SHERIDAN —The Big Horn Lady Rams (5-6, 2-0 2A Northeast) beat the Moorcroft Lady Wolves (1-8) Saturday, 64-20.

Hanneah Puckett led the way with 18 points. Bailey Bard and Emily Blaney added nine points each and Jadyn Mirich had eight.

With every girl on the roster receiving playing time and 10 of the 12 scoring, the ladies are prepared for their next big contest as they face Tongue River (8-2) this week.

“I think the two conference wins early should allow us to prepare for TR with the right mindset,” head coach Mike Daley said. “We will definitely need to focus all week long in order to compete on Friday night on their home court.”

Wolves 74, Rams 68

SHERIDAN — The Big Horn boys (4-7) fell to Moorcroft (8-1) Saturday.

The Rams played strong in the first three quarters, but the game was lost in the fourth quarter when the Wolves outscored Big Horn 23-14, winning 68-74.

“Our defense in the second half let us down as a result we put them on the free throw line to much,” head coach Ryan Alley said. “They shot 27-34 and that was the difference in the game.”
The Rams were led in scoring and rebounds by Colter Carzoli, who dropped 30 and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Devon Ibach was second-leading scorer with 10 points of his own and Connor McCafferty claimed nine rebounds.
