SHERIDAN — American Legion Auxiliary Wyoming Girls State applications are now being accepted.
Girls State is a simulated government program with the objective to provide hands-on training in city and state government procedures. The event is scheduled to be held in Powell June 7-14.
A variety of activities will be offered including campaigning for office, voting in elections, operating a judicial system, participating in a two-party political system, assuming the role of a legislator or judge, hearing Wyoming legislators and government officials speak and more.
All high school junior girls are eligible to apply including home-schooled girls.
All participating delegates are eligible for scholarships and college credit and the registration fee is paid by the sponsoring organization.
