SC basketball teams cap non-conference schedule, host Casper Saturday

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College Generals beat Malmstrom Air Force Base Thursday night, with the Lady Generals improving to 10-6 and the Generals improving to 13-3.

The Lady Generals won 113-31, blowing out Malmstrom for the second time this season.

I think it was good to get a game under us before we play Casper on Saturday,” head coach Frank McCarthy said. “It is hard to take three weeks off right in the middle of our season, but is also really nice break for our player to be able to enjoy the holiday’s with their families. Also we have been going hard  since Sept. 1, so the break was well deserved mentally and physically. Hopefully it will keep up fresh down the stretch of our season.”

For the Generals, five scored in double figures on the way to a 110-59 victory. Josh Adeyeye scored 18, Jamir Andrews had 16, Preston Wells 13, Jeff Amazan 12, and Fred Dure 11. Iakeem Alston dished out six assists.

Teams open North Sub-Region IX conference play against Casper College Saturday at 3 and 5 p.m., at the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome.

The Lady Generals will look to defend their Sub-Region IX title, and seek their 11th in 12 years. They face a Casper College team off to a 1-1 start in conference play, while the Lady Generals are 0-2, with both losses coming on the road at Gillette and Western Wyoming before their break.

For the Generals, they split last year’s regular season Sub-Region championship with Casper College, and are once again a favorite entering their conference slate in 2014. The Generals are 1-1 in conference play, beating Gillette on the road but falling at Western Wyoming. Casper is 2-0 in Region IX play and 9-5 overall.
