SHERIDAN — Unemployment in Sheridan County during the month of November was 4.4 percent, according to the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Research and Planning Section.
The figure is 0.7 percent below last year’s rate at this time.
Sheridan County has a labor force of 16,287, and of those, 710 are drawing unemployment benefits. That number is down from last year, when the force had 16,184 people with 821 unemployed.
Most county unemployment rates stayed relatively stable throughout the state, but Teton County jumped from 5.4 percent in October to 8.3 percent in November. Economists attribute this phenomenon to the end of the tourist season coupled with the fact the ski season there had not yet begun. The statewide unemployment average is also 4.4 percent, which is the lowest it has been since 2009.
