SHERIDAN — The Sheridan girls basketball team easily reached the semifinals of the 4A East Regional tournament with a convincing 65-27 win over Laramie Friday night.
“I was really happy with our aggressiveness and our mentality,” said Sheridan coach Sean Yeager. “We had an aggressive mindset and got to the rack and did not settle.”
The Lady Broncs had nine players score in the contest, led by Hailey Ligocki’s 12 points. Bailey Baker and Robbi Ryan each scored 10.
Sheridan’s defense was stifling as they held the Lady Plainsmen to 20 percent shooting.
Yeager was pleased with the way his team contested Laramie’s 3-point shooting.
“We had a hand in their face when they were shooting them,” he said.
The Lady Broncs will face the host Gillette Lady Camels who beat Cheyenne East in the other semifinal.
“It’s important because ideally we want to be the No. 1 seed (at the state tournament),” Yeager said. “Gillette is going to be pretty fired up. They’re tough to beat.”
The two teams split their two games during the regular season. Tip off will be at 1 p.m. at the North Campus in Gillette.
