GILLETTE — Sheridan boys and girls indoor track teams are both sitting at seventh place as they head into finals today, placing them in the top third at the state meet. A total of 43 Sheridan athletes are competing at the meet, which has a total of 600 Wyoming athletes in attendance.
“We’re really happy for all the kids who placed, and of course for those kids who advanced at finals,” coach Art Baures said following competition on Friday. “We had some great surprises on the girls’ side and some great performances on the boys’ side. And we have lots of opportunities to score tomorrow.”
The boys 4×200 meter relay team took third. Casey Carlton, Christian Mayer, Nate Kane and Nathan Berg finished with a time of 1:35.86.
The girls 4×800 meter relay team also took third. Hannah Chapin, Erin Jensik, Amanda Hutchinson and Zoe Sherman finished with a time of 10:10.92.
Taylor Ballek vaulted 10 feet in the girls pole vault, placing fourth.
Amanda Hutchinson placed sixth in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:29.46.
In the boys 1,600-meter run, Michael Rotellini placed fifth with a time of 4:28.49.
