LARAMIE (AP) — The Wyoming-SMU men’s basketball game has been declared “Kenny Sailors Night” by the University of Wyoming Athletics Department.
A halftime ceremony during the Friday night game will honor Sailors and the 70th Anniversary of Wyoming’s 1943 NCAA Championship Team.
Sailors is the lone surviving member of the title team. Friday’s game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. at Arena-Auditorium. The 92-year-old Sailors has been inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. He is credited by some with developing the modern-day jump shot. He also is the oldest living Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Tournament.
