SHERIDAN — Frequent Sheridan performing artist Josh Wright took first place at the Heide Hermann International Piano Competition held in Westport, Conn., on Nov. 23 and 24.
This is the pianist’s second win in international competition this year. He also won the Rosamond P. Haeberle International Piano Competition in Michigan in March. Wright has performed several solo recitals in Sheridan in the past five years, including his most recent concert in May 2013 held at the WYO Theater.
Wright was also the featured artist for two years at Sheridan College as part of the Sheridan College Young Musical Artists in Residency Series.
Wright is currently completing a doctorate in piano performance at the University of Michigan and will present a recital at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall in January 2014.
