SC teams roll into Region IX play after successful Lions Club Tournament

SHERIDAN — Sheridan College basketball teams completed a successful Lions Club Tournament Saturday, moving into conference play on the right foot.

The Lady Generals, fresh off a 68-64 win over Eastern Wyoming College Friday, rolled Malmstrom AFB, 92-34, Saturday night and improved to 9-4.

Erika Erickson (Shepherd, Mont.) led the way with 16 points, Phoebe Hinds (Brisbane, Australia) scored 11 and Madison Forney (Rawlins) added 10.

Sheridan College men continued their roll of impressive early-season victories with a 96-85 win over Laramie County Community College. Earning their second victory this season over LCCC, a squad head coach Steve Smiley called one of the strongest in the Region IX, the Generals moved to 11-2. Sheridan beat Dakota College (10-2) Friday.

The Generals were led for the second straight night by sophomore Fred Dure, who hit 14 of 14 free throws and finished with 23 points. Iakeem Alston scored 19 points, Josh Adeyeye had 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Jamir Andrews had 11 points and three assists.

Sheridan College plays Western Wyoming Wednesday in Rock Springs, then closes the calendar year against Gillette College in Friday in Gillette. The teams break for the holidays, resuming January 2.
