RANCHESTER — Ranchester Town Council passed on third and final reading an ordinance revising the town’s regulations regarding flood damage prevention, Town Engineer Chris Johnson said. Adopting the revised rules and new Flood Insurance Rate Maps was required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in order to maintain eligibility in the National Flood Insurance Program.
Council members also passed on second reading an ordinance regarding minors dining in bars in Ranchester, Johnson said.
The revised code states that no person under age 21 can enter or remain in a room where alcohol is served unless accompanied by a parent/guardian who is 21 years of age or older for the purpose of dining.
Children will be allowed in dining and waiting areas where alcohol is served before the hour of 10 p.m. After that time, they will not be allowed.
The amendment to the code was proposed to clarify whether or not children under 21 could eat with their parents in an establishment that served food and alcohol.
In other business, councilors discussed how to enforce rules regarding fire pits within town limits and how to deal with a noxious odor complaints in town.
