SHERIDAN — Walter Wragge, a member of the Northern Wyoming Community College District Board of Trustees, has been appointed as an associate committee member to the Association of Community College Trustees.
The ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards that represents more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees form more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges.
Wragge will serve on the Member Communications and Education Committee. The committee is responsible for evaluating and making recommendations to strengthen the ACCT Board’s links with the membership; identifying issues that require member input; and recommending strategies to gather input. It also evaluates and makes recommendations to strengthen current ACCT education programs and recommend additional programs that promote effective board governance through advocacy and education.
“I am very excited and pleased to be able to serve at the national level,” Wragge said. “I believe strongly in frequent and current communication with our member trustees. It is through these channels that members will become informed using current information from which they can make informed decisions to benefit their institutions. I also believe strongly in continuing education for trustees on topics of their interest and current topics which will influence decisions and activities on their individual campuses.”
“Having a member of our board active at the national level is a real benefit to our district,” NWCCD President Paul Young said. “Walt stays abreast of all of the national, state and local issues facing education today and his commitment to our students and communities is strong.”
Wragge’s appointed term will run through October 2014.
