SHERIDAN — Sheridan College has announced its first volleyball signing of the 2014 class.
Signing with SC earlier this month, Maaryn Davis (5’,5”) grew up in Wheatland before moving to Chadron, Neb., where she helped Chadron High School to a 95-21 record in her time with the team as an outside hitter.
“Maaryn is a tremendous addition to the program and will be instrumental in further building the competitive culture at Sheridan College,” assistant coach Austin Albers said in a press release from the college. “Despite being undersized, Maaryn’s vertical has her playing up in the rafters and she has developed the ability to hit around big blocks at the net. We are very excited to have her joining our program.”
Davis’ mother was a high school coach in Wheatland — an advantage Albers said gives Davis a good volleyball IQ. She was a two-time All-Conference player and completed her senior season this past weekend.
“Maaryn will be very helpful in building our program and we are excited to have her joining us next fall,” head coach Jennifer Stadler said. “Maaryn understands the game at a high level and she adds consistency to her side of the net because of that. We look forward to Maaryn’s return to Wyoming volleyball and look forward seeing her make an impact at Sheridan College.”
The Sheridan College volleyball team finished a 20-win season earlier this month.
