2014 prep football schedules released

SHERIDAN — As the last two teams in each class work through the final week of the 2013 season, the Wyoming High School Activities Association released 2014 football schedules Tuesday.

Sheridan, who finished 8-3 after a 28-27 loss in the 4A semis last week to Cheyenne East, will play five on the road and four at Homer Scott Field next fall. The Broncs play the same teams in the same order as they did this fall, trading home and away in 2014.

Tough road trips to Kelly Walsh and Cheyenne East highlight the first half of Sheridan’s season. The Energy Bowl will be played in Sheridan in week six. The Broncs host Central the following week then close with their final two games on the road at Natrona and South.

Tongue River’s new 1A schedule includes trips to Upton-Sundance and Lingle along with home games against Lusk, Southeast, Pine Bluffs and Moorcroft. Due to an uneven number of teams in the new 1A class with the addition of Tongue River and Moorcroft both to the East conference next year, each 1A team has an open week.

Big Horn and Tongue River are not scheduled to play their cross-county rivalry in 2014.

The 2A East Rams will play West teams Lovell and Lyman to begin the season — the same two playoff teams they defeated this month to reach the 2A title game this weekend.

With Tongue River’s move and Normative Service’s shift to 1A/6-man last year, Sheridan County will have a team playing in every class except 3A in 2014.
