WHAT’S AT STAKE
Fresno State needs to keep its record unblemished in order to remain nationally ranked and in contention for a BCS bowl and it needs to win decisively after falling one spot in the poll despite beating Nevada 41-23 the previous week. Wyoming is looking to end a two-game losing streak and keep its hopes alive for a bowl bid.
Derek Carr vs. Wyoming defense. Carr is among the top quarterbacks in the nation with a trio of big receivers to target. He broke Fresno State’s career passing record with 487 yards against Nevada last week and has already passed for 3,061 yards this season. Wyoming coach Dave Christensen fired his defensive coordinator and brought in Bill Young, a former defensive coordinator at Ohio State, Oklahoma, USC, Kansas, Miami (Fla.) and Oklahoma State, as a consultant to help shore up the Cowboys defense, which has surrendered more than 50 points in each of the last two games.
