WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
October and November are months to catch up from the summer’s events for the Downtown Sheridan Association. There is a brief breather between the last Farmers’ Market and Christmas Stroll.
DSA has been working on our Strategic Plan for the last four years. Our board of directors work extremely hard to get all of the projects on the right track downtown. Recently, we have just finished up our Design Guidelines.
These are available at the DSA office and are great for guiding historic façade renovation and signage projects downtown.
Another project we have completed recently is the QR Coding for the Historic Walking Tour. Now you can do the Walking Tour with your smartphone. You will find the codes posted clearly on the buildings windows. Each code links you to a Web page about the building and its history. We encourage everyone to post comments or their own personal stories and experiences in these places.
There are two events coming to wrap up this year, Christmas Stroll and (wise) Men’s Night Out. Christmas Stroll will be on Nov. 29 this year. So join everyone downtown from 4-8 p.m. on historic Main Street. Then continue to enjoy the entire Christmas Stroll event, which goes through Christmas Eve, as you visit each participating business to see if your Stroll button number is posted as that business’ winner. Call the Chamber of Commerce to sign up your business.
(wise) Men’s Night Out will be the 19th of December and will run from 5-8 p.m. We encourage businesses to participate and for all the men to get downtown! Come and enjoy hors d’oeurves and drink specials at downtown eateries and bars to begin your evening. Merchants will have in-store specials, gift wrapping, refreshments and maybe even some prize drawings. Take advantage of this special night and get your shopping done early…well earlier.
DSA’s annual fundraiser the Wild West Winefest, will be on March 7, 2014. We are very excited about it and encourage you to contact our office at 672-8881 to be a volunteer or to donate to this great cause. The funds raised go to many projects including the beautiful flowers downtown, Farmer’s Markets, and events such as Christmas Stroll and Third Thursday Street Festival. Our first meeting will be on Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m. We will meet in the DSA Community Room.
We hope to see all of you out shopping local this holiday season! Come downtown!
For more information about any of these events call the Downtown Sheridan Association at 672-8881.
Stacie Coe is the executive director of the Downtown Sheridan Association.
