SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School girls swimming and diving team got off to a fast start at the state meet in Gillette Friday.
The 200-yard medley relay team comprised of Emily Spiegelberg, Mackenzie Dougherty, Gretchen Dougherty and Payton Brilz took first place with a time of 1 minute, 52 seconds.
Brilz also took second in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.02 and second in the 500 freestyle with a 5:28.28.
Whitney Migrants took second in the 1-meter diving semi-finals with a score of 262.75 and third in the prelims with 169.25.
Gretchen Dougherty took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:01.75 and second place in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:10.23.
Spiegelberg took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a 58.86. The relay team comprised of Brilz, Spiegelberg, Katie Beardslee and Laurel Fosnight took third in the 400 freestyle relay with a 3:52.07.
The 4A finals begin today at 10 a.m.
