SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College women’s basketball team won their first game of the year Friday night in the Holiday Inn Classic against Great Falls.
With a final score of 85-50 over Great Falls, the Lady Generals were led by Madison Forney who scored 16 points in 20 minutes of game play.
Josie Three Irons led the women in rebounds with nine.
“I’m pleased with the first game. We have room for improvement but we ran the floor and we played hard,” coach Frank McCarthy said. “All but four of the girls are freshmen so they were really nervous and it is good to get a win.”
The Lady Generals continue the Holiday Inn tournament today at 5 p.m. in the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome.
The No. 21-ranked Sheridan College men’s basketball team also started the season off with a convincing win in day one of the tournament — 102-37 over Great Falls.
The Generals had five players score in double-figures, led by Abednego Lufile with 16 points.
Lufile also led the Generals with 10 rebounds to record the double-double.
The Generals will face Snow College out of Utah tonight at 7 p.m. in the dome in day two of the tournament.
