SHERIDAN — The Big Horn track team had three athletes post state qualifying marks at the Queen City Classic in Spearfish, S.D., Friday.
Christian Mayer broke the tape at 11.54 seconds in the 100-meters which was good enough for eighth at the meet. Matthew Wigglesworth took seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.75.
On the girls side, Jadyn Mirich also finished seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.26.
“I am very happy with the way kids competed against bigger schools,” said Big Horn coach Kirk McLaughlin. “We have a lot of things to build on, but we are off to a great start.”
Wigglesworth and Mirich also placed in the top eight in other events. Mirich finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 4 feet, 11 inches. Wigglesworth took fourth in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.91.
The meet brought together 27 schools from five states in the region.
The Rams will compete in Glenrock next weekend.
