SHERIDAN — Sheridan resident Christy Spielman was inducted in to the Portland Interscholastic League Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday.
Spielman, a third-grade teacher at Meadowlark Elementary, played volleyball, basketball and softball at Madison High in Portland, Ore.
Before graduating in 1996, she earned 11 letters, was named to the All-City first team two years in a row for all three sports, All-State for basketball and was captain of each team her senior year.
She later went on to play four years of volleyball at The University of Portland where she was a two-time selection to the American Volleyball Coaches Association and made the 1999 West Coast Conference All-Academic Team.
Spielman has made her home in Sheridan, her husband Jason’s hometown, since 2006. They own an engineering and construction business, Mountain View Building Inc.
“It was quite an honor,” Spielman said regarding the induction Sunday evening. “I feel humbled by it. The other people inducted had some pretty amazing accomplishments.”
The PIL Hall of Fame was open from 1981 to 1992 and was rekindled in 2001 as it once again began inducting athletes from 14 different schools.
