SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College women’s soccer team played hard but ultimately fell to Laramie County Community College 1-0 Friday.
“It was a much better performance against LCCC than last time,” head coach Stefan Skillman said. “It was a good effort and a very entertaining game of soccer to watch.”
Skillman said the team had to fight through some injuries, including one girl who took a ball to the head and was unable to get back into the game, leaving the team a bit short.
He noted that Destanee Cook (from Evanston) played exceptionally well, and Lynette Nygard, of Wenatchee, Wash., also stepped up her game in a variety of positions.
“We demanded a lot of her today,” Skillman said.
Overall, Skillman was happy with the Lady Generals effort and their chances at scoring.
“We had a bit of a breakdown in the 77th minute, and that cost us the goal. Other than that, we played really well,” Skillman said.
Sheridan College men’s and women’s soccer will host Western Wyoming Community College today for their last games of the season at home on Maier Field. The games will feature festivities to honor sophomore players who will graduate this year.
Men’s soccer plays at 1 p.m. today and women’s soccer plays at 3 p.m. at Maier Field at Sheridan College.
The SC men fell 2-0 to LCC Friday.
