SHERIDAN — Two of Sheridan’s brews were given honors at the Great American Brew Festival in Denver last weekend. Blacktooth Brewing Company’s Black Eagle Baltic Porter won a gold medal in the porter category, and the Stumpy Ridge Stout brew won a bronze medal in the category of stouts at the largest beer competition in the world.
Co-owner Tim Barnes said the entire Black Tooth staff made it to the festival, where more than 700 breweries competed for medals.
“It’s always nice to be judged against your peers,” Barnes said. “The judges are all highly respected, industry respected judges. They’re usually brewers judging categories they don’t compete in.”
The brewery has medaled at the GABF for the past three consecutive years. In 2011, the Wagon Box Wheat won a bronze medal, and in 2012, it won gold in the American-style wheat category.
